Beginning at 5 p.m. CST, I will turn off my work computer and walk out of the office. And then for 48 hours, I will do my darndest to completely avoid the Internet. It’s summer, after all, and I’m done with my class for the quarter. I’m done with my big, stressful work project. The weather is going to be
beautiful kind of mediocre, but that’s OK. This is a good weekend to do an electronic media fast, in which I avoid my computer, Microsoft Word, cable TV (easy enough, since we don’t have cable), network TV and other assorted media bits.
It will be a good weekend to go to the Do Division Street Fest, or make black bean salad, or read a book or two. To take my little digital camera around for a Chicago photo shoot.
So … don’t write me. Don’t tweet to me. If you want to find me, let’s meet on the streets of Chicago. I’ll be the one with the freckles popping up on her face and the carefree look of a woman who has scorned the Internet. At least for a day or two.
