For two months, I opted to wear 33 items of clothing (including shoes and outerwear). In this span of time, the temperature in Chicago has been anywhere from high 70s to low 30s (maybe upper 20s?). It has rained. I cut off all my hair. I worked full-time in an office that requires business attire. I attended a professional conference and finished my last class for my master’s degree (still have to finish that pesky thesis) and traveled to Ohio for a family event.
Life with 33 items of clothing has been fine. But I feel like I don’t need the extra month. I am purging my clothes this weekend, with a clothing swap and then a massive haul to the donation bin. And the weather has gotten cold, which has reminded me that I really need my thick, wooly sweaters for long haul of winter in Chicago.
So do I feel bad about quitting Project 333, which mandated THREE months on 33 items? No. I feel good, refreshed and ready to move on. With slightly more than 33 items, but much less than I started with.
