There’s a little market down the street from us called Farmer’s Pride, which is our go-to grocery when we need a few things. They carry a pretty decent selection of inexpensive fruits and vegetables, which are always at their absolute ripest, and which I suspect may come from the produce distribution warehouse down the street. Anyway, the point of all this is that sometimes you can buy pints and pints of berries, blackberries and blueberries and strawberries, for a few bucks.
Which brings us to cobbler.
I think summer time is just the right time for cobbler. It takes little planning, as long as you have some berries on hand. And it’s so easy that while your husband bakes it, you can run out to the store and buy vanilla ice cream.

(He likes when I leave him alone for baking, anyway. He has to really concentrate on that measuring and stirring.)
But while I was daydreaming of cobbler and zipping down to the store, it turns out somebody else had their head in the clouds, too. One Mr. John Hancock (Building) was all spaced out and hazy.

And the cobbler? It was pretty good. Just about perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
